going The Extra Rile...
with Plastic Bank
Rile has formed a Supporter Partnership with Plastic Bank. Through the Supporter Partnership, we invest in the recovery of ocean-bound plastic while helping improve the lives of the plastic collectors. Plastic Bank creates environmental, social and economic impacts in multiple locations around the world.
with TreePeople
TreePeople was founded in 1973 by a teenager from Los Angeles who started replacing a parking lot with smog tolerant trees. Rile donates to Tree People and supports their Adopt a Class program which empowers students, teachers and communities with knowledge, skills, and partners alongside them to take action through hands-on meaningful projects.
with Heartbeats
Rile supports HEARTbeats, part of the Violence Intervention Program, the largest child abuse clinic in the country, serving over 18,000 children every year, and establishing best practice for the care and treatment of victims of abuse and neglect. HEARTbeats is a group of socially responsible 9th through 12th graders that work to bring awareness to teens about issues surrounding child abuse and family violence. HEARTbeats host four volunteering events during the year that directly benefit the children and families receiving services at the Violence Intervention Program.
with The Skye Strong Foundation
"Imagine being a normal teenage girl doing everything a girl would do then one morning waking up with back pain and the next moment being diagnosed with a rare cancer." My daughter wrote this about her friend Skye in the summer of 2019. A few days after she had graduated middle school, Skye was diagnosed with NUT carcinoma, an extremely aggressive cancer that is so rare there is no standard treatment for it. It is difficult to treat because it grows quickly and can become resistant to treatment. Skye received 6 rounds of chemotherapy and multiple rounds of radiation. She was also the third child to participate in a clinical trial at Dana Farber Cancer Research Institute in Boston. She fought with such bravery and grace.
She passed away on January 31 2020.
The Skye Strong Foundation's mission is to raise awareness and funds to help the children and families who are currently fighting NUT carcinoma and other rare cancers.
